that your new kitten may be stressed after a long ride home and suffer
from separation anxiety from its mother and siblings. You should try
to arrange for several hours of quiet time upon its arrival home. Ask
children to refrain from extreme actions and loud noises. Please do
not invite neighbors, friends and extended family until your new
kitten has had a few days to adjust to its new environment.
f you
have other pets, such as cats or dogs (no matter how gentle or docile
they may be) you can expect some friction when introducing a new
kitten into the home. You will want to be present at all times when
initial meetings between your new kitten and resident pets occurs.
he
ideal introduction would occur where resident pets can sniff and see
the new kitten without actually being able to get at him or her. This
could be through a cat carrier, or cage, or room dividing gates. As
your new kitten picks up the smells of its new surroundings and
resident pets begin to realize that kitty isn't going anywhere the
tension will die down.
hen
you are ready to bring them together, where they can have physical
contact, still be careful, as a large dog who gives a friendly lick
may unintentionally move your kitten half way across a room. The
entire integration procedure may be as little as a few days to several
weeks. If you are calm and provide equal attention to everyone, then
usually the transition is much smoother and quicker.
e
truly hope you will enjoy your new Ragdoll kitten as much as we have
over the past weeks.
