agdolls are large, very loving, docile cats with semi-longhair and big blue eyes
in the pointed variety.
The Ragdoll body is light-colored, with darker points on the face, legs, tail
and ears, resembling that of the Siamese markings. The ideal Ragdoll
is a well balanced cat, with no extreme features. Altered males can
reach up to 25 pounds; while females are proportionately smaller,
reaching 10-15 pounds. Ragdolls are a slow-maturing cat. Ragdolls
reach full coat color at around two years of age and their full size
and weight at about four years.
s well
as, the pointed variety, Ragdolls also come in solid, sometimes
referred to as self-colored or non-pointed variety and mink/sepia (the above description
holds true except in eye color which is often aqua, a blue/green
coloring and green/yellow in sepia and solids). Most main stream breeders choose to breed using pointed
colors only. Just a few kept breeding with the Mink and Solid
bloodlines (approximately 30 breeders), so these are extremely rare to
find. These old lines trace back to IRCA Ragdoll breeders and some
trace back to Ann Bakers cattery and provide additional color to the
breed of Ragdolls. *Word of caution: please be sure when purchasing
mink or solid Ragdolls that the pedigree states they are SBT
registered Ragdolls in the TICA association (in other words
purebreds).
agdolls
adore their human counterparts. Sometimes being referred to as more
like a dog in that manner. They run to greet you at the door, follow
you from room to room, flop on you, sleep with you and just love you
to death.
hey
are gentle creatures, carefully avoiding scratching people and are
good with children, elderly and dogs. Ragdolls also tend to be floor
cats, by this I mean they do not enjoy jumping and climbing on
everything they way some other cats do. They prefer purrs to yowls and
keep their voices soft and quiet. They are normally well behaved and
eager to please.
ue to
their extremely friendly nature, Ragdolls are definitely indoor cats
and should NEVER be allowed outdoors without supervision.
agdolls
groom and bathe their silky coat themselves. Once in a while though
their owners should give them a brushing with a steel comb as part of
their cuddling, and most Ragdolls will enjoy having this done.
Ragdolls do shed, not the same like other long hair breeds, in
comparison they are a low maintenance cat.
s with
most cats, providing acceptable scratching surfaces (scratching posts)
disapproves of declawing and are essential elements for maintaining a
happy and healthy life.
